Overview
The Facilities Director is responsible for the comprehensive oversight, maintenance, and strategic development of all CrossWalk Church facilities—currently three owned locations, one rented location, and additional campuses as God expands our reach. This full-time leadership role ensures that all properties are safe, functional, welcoming, and aligned with our mission to create excellent environments for worship, ministry, and community engagement.
Reporting to the Operations Lead, the Facilities Director will lead all aspects of facilities management, including maintenance, repairs, renovations, capital projects, vendor relationships, and compliance. This role requires strategic vision, operational excellence, and hands-on problem-solving to meet both the immediate and long-term facility needs of a growing, multi-campus church.

Key Responsibilities
Facilities Oversight & Preventive Maintenance
- Provide primary leadership and oversight for all facilities-related needs across all current and future church locations.
- Conduct regular property inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and readiness for ministry activities.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, etc.) to reduce downtime and extend the lifespan of assets.
- Ensure exterior grounds, parking lots, landscaping, and signage are well-maintained.
- Proactively identify and address facility concerns before they escalate into emergencies.
Project Management & Capital Improvements
- Lead all renovation, construction, and capital improvement projects from planning through completion.
- Create project timelines, budgets, and scopes of work, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with church leadership to align facility upgrades with ministry goals and long-term growth plans.
- Source and manage contractors, vendors, and service providers, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to church standards.
- Oversee facility-related technology infrastructure (e.g., security systems, lighting controls, building automation systems).
Emergency Response & Issue Resolution
- Serve as the primary point of contact for urgent facility issues (HVAC failures, leaks, electrical problems, etc.), ensuring rapid and effective resolution.
- Maintain 24/7 availability (as needed) for facility emergencies, with a clear response plan and backup coverage when unavailable.
- Coordinate with pastoral and operations staff to minimize disruptions to services and events during repairs.
Budgeting, Stewardship & Vendor Management
- Develop and manage the annual facilities budget, including maintenance, repairs, utilities, and capital expenditures.
- Negotiate vendor contracts to secure high-quality services at competitive prices.
- Track and approve invoices, ensuring financial accountability and alignment with budgetary goals.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, warranties, permits, and vendor relationships.
Compliance, Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations and building codes.
- Implement and maintain fire safety, emergency evacuation, and workplace safety protocols.
- Partner with insurance providers to manage facility risk, documentation, and claims.
- Maintain accessibility standards for all buildings and spaces in accordance with ADA requirements.
Team Leadership & Volunteer Engagement
- Recruit, train, and lead a facilities support team, including staff and volunteers, to assist with maintenance, events, and projects.
- Develop volunteer opportunities for facility care and improvement projects, fostering ownership among the congregation.
- Provide leadership development for team members to ensure consistent excellence across all campuses.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Operational Excellence: 100% of facilities maintained in safe, functional, and ministry-ready condition.
- Response Time: Urgent facility needs addressed within 24 hours; non-urgent needs resolved within agreed-upon timelines.
- Project Delivery: 90% of facility projects completed on time and within budget.
- Cost Efficiency: Annual facilities spending meets or is under budget without compromising quality.
- Satisfaction: Positive feedback from Location Pastors and ministry teams regarding facility readiness and communication.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities management, construction oversight, property management, or a related field (multi-site experience preferred).
- Strong leadership, project management, and budgeting skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
- Proficiency with building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, etc.) and preventive maintenance best practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of CrossWalk Church, with the ability to integrate ministry vision into facility planning.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform hands-on maintenance tasks when needed.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and be on call for facility emergencies.
Work Schedule & Compensation
- Status: Full-Time, Exempt
- Reports To: Operations Lead
- Location: Primarily based at Norge with travel to all locations as needed.
- Schedule: 40+ hours/week, including occasional nights and weekends for projects and events.
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience; includes benefits package.
